On October 28, 2025, Elon Musk and his AI startup xAI officially unveiled Grokipedia — a new online encyclopedia powered by artificial intelligence. According to Musk, the main goal of the project is to create a “source of truth” that consolidates all human knowledge in one place.
“Our goal is to create open-source code containing all of humanity’s knowledge. Copies of it, fixed in stable oxide, will be placed in orbit, on the Moon, and on Mars to preserve them for future generations,” Musk said.
On Grokipedia’s homepage, users are greeted by a large search bar. The layout of the articles resembles Wikipedia — with headings, subheadings, and references to sources.
Despite the visual similarity, Musk positions Grokipedia as an improved, more accurate, and less biased alternative. However, journalists have noticed that some Grokipedia entries are partially or fully copied from Wikipedia. At the bottom of such pages, a note reads:
“Content adapted from Wikipedia and licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 License.”
This note can be found, for example, on pages about MacBook Air, PlayStation 5, and Lincoln Mark VIII.
The central figure of the platform is Grok, the artificial intelligence system that not only generates but also moderates content. Users can propose edits or add new articles, but the final decision is made by the AI itself.
Musk emphasizes that Grokipedia conducts fact-checking and aims to avoid political bias. However, users have already begun noticing differences in how controversial topics are presented.
George Floyd. Grokipedia’s first paragraph highlights Floyd’s criminal record, while Wikipedia immediately notes that he was killed by a white police officer.
Climate Change. Wikipedia states that there is an “almost unanimous scientific consensus” about human-caused global warming. Grokipedia, on the other hand, claims that this consensus “may be exaggerated” and that the media “fuel public anxiety.”
Elon Musk. Wikipedia’s article mentions a hand gesture Musk made in January 2025, which many interpreted as a Nazi salute. This episode is absent from Grokipedia’s version.
Due to such differences, several media outlets have already called Grokipedia a “right-leaning alternative to Wikipedia.”
Earlier this year, Musk stated that his company xAI plans to “rewrite all human knowledge” to train the next generation of the Grok chatbot. According to him, today’s AI models contain “too much garbage,” as they are trained on unverified or biased data.
This announcement sparked criticism from AI experts. Researcher Gary Marcus compared Musk’s vision to a dystopia, where one corporation creates its own version of reality.
Users have also noticed that Grok often references Musk’s own posts on X (formerly Twitter), especially in discussions about politics, abortion, and international conflicts.
At AsicFIX, we closely monitor the evolution of artificial intelligence — from xAI’s projects to innovations in data processing, energy efficiency, and computing.
Tools like Grokipedia demonstrate how AI is already transforming not only the economy but also the way information and truth are defined in the digital world.
We believe that maintaining a balance between technology and objectivity will become one of the biggest challenges of the coming decade.
